Children: Nathaniel, Abigail, and Emily
Campus: West Virginia Tech
Years with BCM: 17
In the fall of 1998, I arrived as a freshman at WVU-Tech and was invited to join the BCM on campus. After running out of excuses of why I couldn’t attend, I took the plunge and joined in the spring of 1999. I have been attending CSU the BCM Ministry at Tech for twenty-one years! The setting and the campus have changed, but the purpose to change lives, to change the world has remained the same! I am currently in my 17th year as an associate with BCM at WVU-Tech. In addition to serving Tech, I have also served the last nine years as the Pastor at First Baptist Church of Racine. I have been married for over ten years to a wonderful, godly lady, Margaret, and we have been blessed with three wonderful children: Nate (10) Abigail(8) and Emily (5).
I believe that BCM is essential to every college student, more today than ever before. It is the bridge for young adults moving from youth groups and the umbrella of their parent's faith to creating and establishing their own faith and identity in Christ! BCM allows college students to discover, develop and use their spiritual gifts. Over the years at Tech, we allowed college students to lead worship and share messages on Thursday nights. Students have had the opportunity to plan and partake in the outreach ministries that have led other students to Christ; such as Pizza Night in the dorm rooms, Jesus Week, and Movie Night! We have also visited the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, attended BCM Fall retreats and we can't leave out beach week, all enriching our students' faith and experiences. Our students have been able to experience personal giving opportunities through our spare change offering, in which, over the last seven years we have provided Christmas for numerous children in Montgomery and Beckley areas. BCM also connects young adults to local churches, allowing them to partner together to change the world one life at a time!
